Optimum Nutrition Nitrocore 24: Ultimate Chocolate and Extreme Cookies & Cream Review
I am just about finished with my Optimum Nutrition Nitrocore 24 Extreme Cookies & Cream and starting on my Optimum Nutrition Nitrocore 24 Ultimate Chocolate. I decided it is time to throw up a review because I am moving from Optimum Nutrition as my protein brand of choice to Gaspari. I've personally had over 40 pounds of Optimum Nutrition Double Rich Chocolate and decided it is time to venture into new territory. I actually own the Vanilla flavor of Nitrocore 24 as well, I will be reviewing that when I open it in the future.

So what is Nitrocore 24?

I'll review both separately.
Nitrocore 24 Ultimate Chocolate
- SMELL – It smells definitely like chocolate, but with a malty overtone. Personally, I don't like the chocolate malted milk balls, but if you like it, you will enjoy the smell.
- MIXABILITY – I have tried this in three things... (1) Water (2) Milk/Oatmeal (3) Skim Milk. It mixes extremely well in Milk and Oatmeal and makes a very fine sludge. Basically if you are trying to create a very thick consistency, it mixes extremely well with a spoon and little water/milk. When I mix it in a shaker with milk or water, it does tend to clump a bit in a blender bottle. There are random chunks that don't really get destroyed by a blender bottle. The clumps don't taste too great but thankfully there arn't "too" much.
- CONSISTENCY – The shake is thicker than ON Whey 100% but isn't as thick as S.A.N Infusion.
- TASTE – (1) As Protein Sludge (little bit of milk), a bit bitter and I can't taste the sweetness for some reason. (2) With water, flavor is not as strong doesn't leave too much to be desired. (3) With milk, doesn't remind me too much of milk chocolate, but more of a different variety. Not as rich as you would think the protein would be. (4) With Oatmeal, absolutely FANTASTIC, adds a great flavor and makes breakfast extremely enjoyable.
- INGREDIENTS – I really enjoy the profile because it has various different kinds of protein, I feel it is much more of a complete protein supplement because of the various rates of digestion. I would be happier if it was lower in fat content. But this works well as an any-time protein.
Nitrocore Extreme Cookies & Cream
- SMELL – As other people have mentioned, the smell is fairly artificial and chemically.
- MIXABILITY – Mixes like the above.
- CONSISTENCY – Consistency like the above.
- TASTE – (1) Milk, I think it is too sweet for me and not a good match for my taste buds, just feels very artificial because of the smell. (2) Oatmeal, this is where this product shines. If you mix it in your morning oats, you lose the artificial flavor and really get a good balance of sweetness. I've been loving this more than ON 100% Whey with my oatmeal too.
- INGREDIENTS – Look above.
Recommendation? I would buy one of the above if you like to throw some protein in your morning cereal or oatmeal. I would probably stick to ON 100% Whey for cooking and various protein shakes during the day.
